Milestones of Sundar Pichai at Google

  1. In the year 2004, Sundar Pichai began his journey with Google as VP of Product Management, where he led the team working on Google’s Chrome browser and OS.
  2. On September 2008, Pichai’s team launched Google Chrome. And that made Pichai to build his reputation at the company.
  3. In July 2009, the Chrome OS was born. Sundar Pichai released Chrome OS for trial. On November 19, 2009, Pichai gave a demonstration of the Chrome OS.
  4. On May 20, 2010, he announced the new open-source video codec VP8 by Google and introduced the new video format WebM to the public.
  5. In 2011, he was promoted to Senior VP and also took charge of Gmail and Google Docs. Though he got offer from Twitter to lead Product, he decided to stay with Google.
  6. In 2012, Chrome OS and Chromebook were released in public and Sundar Pichai was driving force behind that.
  7. In 2013, he replaced Andy Rubin, an executive in charge of the company’s Chrome Web browser and operating system for lightweight laptop computers.
  8. In August 2013, Pichai’s name was also mentioned as a potential front-runner for the position of Microsoft CEO after Steve Ballmer announced his resignation.
  9. On October 2014, he was put in charge of most of Google’s core products, including Maps, Search, and commerce in addition to Chrome and Android.
  10. On 10th August 2015, Pichai was announced as next CEO of Google as the company rebrands itself as Alphabet, a parent company.
